People receive mixed messages about the health effects of coffee. (INSTANT COFFEE IS NOT COFFEE, ITS SUGAR AND CRAP.) I’M TALKING ABOUT PURE COFFEE. Coffee contains powerful antioxidants that have definite health benefits.
Chinese researchers pooled the results of 59 studies on the link between coffee and cancer, using a technique called meta-analysis. Compared to people who didn’t drink coffee, OCCASIONAL COFFEE DRINKERS SHOWED A 13 % REDUCED RISK OF CANCER, WHILE HEAVY COFFEE DRINKERS HAD AN 18% LOWER RISK.
Coffee drinking was linked to a reduced risk of cancer of the bladder, breast, mouth and throat, rectum, esophagus, pancreas and prostate. Recent studies have also shown that coffee drinking reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes and coronary artery disease. (BMC Cancer, 11:96, 2011; published online)
