TO UNDERSTAND BELLY FAT, YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHAT METABOLIC SYNDROME IS!

The metabolic syndrome is a group of five garden-variety risk factors that, when combined, indicate you are likely to develop diabetes, hypertension, (high blood pressure) and coronary artery (heart) disease. If you have this syndrome and do nothing about it, you are almost guaranteed to end up with a life-threatening illness. The symptoms of the metabolic syndrome must be identified early and taken seriously. If we can teach you to recognize the warning signs of this perilous syndrome, you can take action to stop it in its tracks.

For decades doctors noticed a pattern in a large percentage of patients. People who were overweight tended also to have high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. It wasn’t until the early 1980s, however, that some researchers, particularly Dr. Gerald Reaven of Stanford University, started connecting more of the dots. What they noticed was that patients who had belly fat, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, low HDL (good) cholesterol and sometimes high sugar were more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes and coronary artery disease.
Doctors call a group of related signs and symptoms a syndrome, so Dr. Reaven coined the term for this cluster of signs syndrome X. It’s still sometimes called that, but today most researchers and doctors call it the metabolic syndrome.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]DEFINING THE METABOLIC SYNDROME

You officially have the metabolic syndrome if you have three or more of these signs:

  1. BELLY FAT: a waist circumference greater than (102cm) in men and (88cm) in women
  2. HIGH TRIGLYCERIDES: 150mg/dL (1.7mmol.l) or more
  3. LOW HDL (GOOD) CHOLESTEROL: under 40mg/dL (mmol/l) for men and under 50mg/dL (1.3mml) for women
  4. HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE: 135/85mmHg or greater
  5. HIGH BLOOD SUGAR: 110mg/dL (6.1mmol/l) or greater

These warning signs are all connected, and when you combine a few of them, resulting scenario is like a ticking bomb.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

BELLY FAT

You might call it love handles, a spare tire, a potbelly, or even a beer gut. Whatever the name, your protruding abdominal outline is caused by fat stored around your intestines and abdominal organs as well as right under your skin. Fat stored in this way is much more dangerous to your health than fat stored under the skin of your buttocks and thighs. Doctors use the waist to hip ratio (WHR) or waist circumference to define the point at which your belly fat stores are posing a health risk. This is because excessive belly fat makes the circumference of the waist bigger than that of the hips. To find your WHR, measure your waist at the navel and measure your hips, then divide the waist number by the hip number. For example, if your waist is 90cm and your hips are 100cm, your WHR is 0.9. The higher your WHR, the more ‘apple-shaped’ you are.

THE DANGEROUS CHEMISTRY OF BELLY FAT

In case you thought it was all about cholesterol, we’re about to disabuse you of that misconception. Cholesterol is only part of the heart disease story. Did you know that it is quite possible to have cholesterol levels that fall within the normal range and still have a heart attack?
Remember, a heart attack is caused when blood flow to the arteries of the heart is blocked, usually by a blood clot. The biochemical imbalance driving the metabolic syndrome causes an increased tendency towards blood clotting. In part, this is because belly fat that is such a telltale sign of metabolic syndrome secretes chemicals that raise the level of clotting factors in your blood and make your platelets “stickier” and more likely to form a clot. The inflammatory response that occurs in the metabolic syndrome-partly due to those same secreted chemicals-damages the endothelial cells that line your blood vessels. This is a recipe for blood clot formation, arterial blockage and deep venous thrombosis. If you have ever wondered why our society is plagued by stroke, heart attacks, and blood clots in the lung, now you know. Here’s the good news! When people with belly fat and the metabolic syndrome, pre diabetes or diabetes start following the Keto-sa nutritional and supplement program, they generally lose proportionally more weight in the belly area. HDL (GOOD) cholesterol goes up and triglycerides (fat in the blood) go down more than the weight loss alone would normally accomplish. Other dangerous substances in your blood, such as clotting factors, also can go down, because you have less of the fat that makes them. Add in some exercise, which also seems to target belly fat, and the effect on your lipids and inflammatory and clotting factors is even greater. Losing even small amounts of visceral fat may be enough to bring your metabolic syndrome under control and improve your health. Well I hope what after reading this articles you will understand why controlling  carbohydrates with the Keto-sa nutritional program is really the best and only solution to your weight loss problem.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row custom_background=”custom” bg_color=”#2c3547″ margin_bottom=”0″ wide_row=”yes” padding=”0″][vc_column width=”1/1″][divider_line type=”divider_shadow_top” opacity=”40″][vc_column_text]
